THE FROG, THE FORT, & THE FARM COMMENTARY
Thank-you for holding and reading my book whether you purchased it or received it as a gift. My prayer for you: that God’s love, favor, and blessings are apparent all around you as you deepen your relationship with Him. Together let’s check it out, as we look for the Christian/Biblical connections on the pages of “The Frog, The Fort, & The Farm.” Remember, in all the Trinity Editions of the Gamma Series, the key animal represents the attributes, characteristics, traits, personality, or the nature of God, the Father; God, the Son; or God, the Holy Spirit. As His children, we should also reflect our Father in all areas.
So, let’s get started:
- First, the title – “The Frog, The Fort, & The Farm” uses the smallest to largest concept to remind us of the progression of growth – biblically maturing from milk to meat.
- Interestingly, when Larkin’s mother says “bring whatever toys that you choose,” Larkin wants them all. Similarly, God desires us all to be saved. 1Timothy 2:4. However, choices have to be made! And we are responsible to make many choices throughout our lives.
- Larkin had many questions and much to learn which is where we should be in our walk with the Lord. Continually searching and seeking answers. Matthew 7:7-9
- There is much amazement over large farm equipment and the tiniest of problems it can solve. Who do we know that is Almighty but still takes the time to solve even the tiniest of
our problems? - On this Farm, animals are mentioned (God’s creation) as well as seeds. Seeds are mentioned multiple times in the Bible. Check out the Parable of the Sower. Matthew 13:1- 23; Mark 4:1-20; Luke 8:4-15
- As we turn the pages, we see a winding dirt trail or path. Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
- Army soldiers are on the list needed. We are in a battle on this earth. Reminds me of the song, “I’m in the Lord’s Army.” It’s always nice to know you are on the winning side! God has the victory!
- Collection of rocks ties into the Word as “rock” is a metaphor for God. When Larkin went to pick up the rock, he discovered it was a frog. (The key animal in the story represents the traits & nature of God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit).
- Building a “perfect fort” is a plot in the story. See Matthew 5:48; James 1:4 & others.
- “This little green frog was cheerful and friendly enough. His words were soft and gentle and in no way gruff.” What a nice representation of the character of our Lord, never forceful.
- Next page has the frog, with a smile, offering to help. Here the frog suggested hay to be used for building that perfect fort. Interestingly, “hay” is the fifth letter of the Hebrew alphabet and represents God’s grace and goodness which can be seen in His works. In this story, the frog (representing God) recommends the hay as his suggestion for building the perfect fort.
- The Frog and Larkin have a plan to ask grandpa about using the hay. Also, a few pages later, Larkin is pulling his plan together for the “perfect fort”. God has many plans throughout the Bible. (The Plan of Salvation) The Word says God has a plan for us.
Jeremiah 29:11 - Boris, the frog’s name, incidentally, means “warrior”, “fighter”, or “battle”. Which is very
applicable here, right?
Just an FYI there may be more connections than those I have listed. I’ll add them if you let me
know.
The Bookend Scripture verses for this story are:
ALPHA SCRIPTURE: Psalm 18:2. “The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”
OMEGA SCRIPTURE: Joshua 1:9. “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Take Away From This Story:
“Battles, conflict, and strife may never seem right, but there are some things, like freedom, that call
for a fight.
Love is important when it comes to family and friends, but here is the point – this is not where it
ends.
Kindness, caring, and compassion should always be shown. And no one should have to walk
through life feeling alone.”
T-Shirt (heat pressed) saying on the frog:
SHOW KINDNESS TO OTHERS
Book’s GEM:
Look for a hidden letter on every spread (2 pages). Spelling the two words S-H-O-W (no letter found on the pages with the 2 dogs’ names)
K-I-N-D-N-E-S-S.

Thank you for taking the time to read my book.
My hope is that you enjoyed Larkin’s allegorical, whimsical adventures. But, even more, my goal is that this book becomes a catalyst for discussions with children bringing God’s Word and His deep love for us into the conversations, hopefully leading to a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ.
